What is the Bonnell 775 MX?

The Bonnell 775 MX is a full suspension electric dirt bike built on a DH mountain bike platform. Power comes from a 65V 1300Wh battery built from Samsung’s 50S cells. The battery drives a CYC X1 Pro Gen 4 mid-drive motor that is rated at 6000W of peak power and is capable of 280 Nm of torque. Weighing in at just 75 lbs, the 775 MX has a better power to weight ratio than Honda’s CRF250F.

The chassis is a 4130 chromoly frame with forged aluminum chainstays. Up front there’s a 200mm Suntour RUX fork and a 170mm Suntour Voro coil shock in the rear. The Bonnell 775 MX has a “mullet” wheel setup, with a 29” up front and a 27.5” in the rear. From factory the wheels are wrapped with Maxxis Assegai tires. To stop all this power, bikes are fitted with moto-style 4 piston Magura MT5 brakes on floating rotors, with a 220mm disc up front and a 203mm in the rear.

How fast does the Bonnell 775 MX go?

With the stock 24T sprocket, the 775 MX tops out at around 60km/h. Bonnell offers sprocket options from 22T to 28T to trade top speed for torque, depending on riders’ wants and needs.

What is the range on a single charge?

Bonnell claims a range of 20-60km, depending on the type of riding. Just cruising with pedal assist would stretch the 1300Wh battery towards the higher end of the range while full throttle eMoto riding would bring the range to the lower end. Charge time is under 4 hours with the included 5A charger.

Bonnell 775 MX vs Sur-Ron Light Bee or Talaria Sting?

Different tools. The 775 MX is about 50 lbs lighter than a Sur-Ron, rides like a downhill bike, and gives you both pedal assist and throttle. You can cruise it like an eBike or rip it like a dirt bike. A Sur-Ron or Talaria is more “moto” style. If you want flickable singletrack handling and the option to pedal, the Bonnell is the pick. Can I ride the Bonnell 775 MX in Alberta? Is it street legal?

No, the 775 MX is an off-road electric bike built for off-road use only. Alberta’s regulations state that power assisted bicycles must be under 500W and have a top speed of 32km/h. Even though the Bonnell 775 MX looks like an e-MTB, it unfortunately would not be allowed on any streets, paths or sidewalks. Ride on private land and OHV areas and check local bylaws before heading out to ride.

What size should I get?

The 775 MX comes in Medium, Large, and X-Large, with coil spring rates matched to each frame size from the factory. Sizing depends on your height and riding style. Stop by the showroom and we'll get you on the right frame.

Does it come with a warranty in Canada?

Yes. Bonnell backs the 775 MX with a two-year frame warranty, plus one year on the battery, motor, and controller.

Can the battery be swapped?

Yes, the 1300Wh pack is a swappable battery, so you can bring a spare in the truck and double your ride time. The Bonnell Ride Control App connects over Bluetooth to monitor battery status, customize power modes, and tune pedal assist levels.
